Site in HTML or in WordPress ?
The way a site is created affects its speed, what can be done and the maintenance required of it. It can also condition its future evolution and possible functionalities.
HTML
HTML has existed since 1994 and its commands allow to transform a text document into a web page being the native form that is perceived by browsers and various equipments.
Many programming languages and diverse platforms produce HTML only that this information is processed or requires to load several modules and libraries before being shown.
In 2022 when talking about HTML pages are usually pages that resort to bootstrap libraries or others where with the inclusion of some files one can have a page with good appearance.

In WordPress you rarely look at the code and work more in visual mode.
In this type of editors it is possible to create a pleasant page or adjust details on the page.
Differences
Website Speed
A website in HTML is usually faster than a site in WordPress.
Some themes and modules in WordPress can be very heavy and make the site slower. Older servers may also have difficulty showing heavier sites.
It is normal for a website in HTML to take less than 1 second to load but with some optimizations it is possible that a site in WordPress does not take much longer.
Functionality
In WordPress it is easier to add many features and have tools already tested to do some steps.
In HTML, it often requires to be properly programmed to have some of the existing features.
However, if you want a very specific programming it can be better from a website in HTML than to implement it on a site made in WordPress.

WordPress appeared in 2003 and allows to create pages quickly with a good look having thousands of plugins.
WordPress is a content manager (CMS).
About 40% of the sites are created in WordPress and about 2/3 of the sites created with a CMS use WordPress.
The basis of WordPress is free but has additional modules and paid themes.
The
Maintenance
An HTML site does not need updates and it is normal to be years without being hacked and without having to do any intervention.
A site in WordPress will have updates of some module every month and if you are long without updates is more vulnerable to be attacked.
If there is content to be changed the same change in HTML usually takes twice the time than to be done in WordPress.
Rarely there may be modifications in the themes of WordPress or in the builders may have to remake the entire site.
Cost
In the initial creation of an HTML site, it usually becomes more expensive as well as in the maintenance of the content, taking longer to be done.
Server-level resources and the need for periodic interventions are usually reduced in HTML.
If the site is used as a basis for an application or has a very specific functionality to have HTML can help the process.
